My digital camera has been layed to permanent rest. After numerous falls down ravines, stairs, and out of moving cars a mere 17 inch fall from my pocket crippled the camera. So no more pictures, for a while…
Last week I came across the opening of Alxander Lee’s work at Kinkead Gallery. From the sidewalk all you see a huge mushroom cloud of vibrant cool colors dominating the space of the front room. I have yet to read about the idea or intent of the show but my take on it was that the viewer is to be a part group of anthropologists uncovering and discovering the past from 200 years into the future. That’s just my take. The front room encompasses a huge blueish mushroom cloud, crystal, corral, sculpture which seems to be the beginning or end of some monumental happening. Side stepping around the sculpture to the back room the viewer is greeted my some sort of resin amoeba wall piece among other wonderfully drawn ink paper pieces. The pieces, upon a closer look, are drawn on napkins as if they were notes of the expedition.
