We went and visited some galleries yesterday and it was pretty uneventful until I went into Gallery Track16.

The Gee Vaucher: Introspective was great. Lots of wonderfully grotesque and humerous mixed media, drawing, and collage. Most of the work was commentary on life at the time… its interesting to see in art how times rarely differ.

Next we went into the Lora Schlesinger Gallery where Adonna Khare’s show was about to end. I had checked it out last the month but wanted to get some pictures of the drawings on display.

On our way back home I noticed this strange store was open that I have been wanting to check out since i moved back to Culver City a few months ago. Royal T is a Cafe/Gallery/boutique all wrapped up in one nice cute Asian aesthetic. Its a really interesting space that owner of the cafe displays her private collection of top notch contemporary Asian Art. The best part of the place is that as soon as you walk in there are two cute girls in outfits to greet you and explain what the place is all about.

We ended up in Culver City at Cerasoli Gallery.

Ryan Kapp and Michelle Carlson had some nice work up.

While we where at Cerasoli Gallery we heard that Murakami was having an opening at Blum and Poe.

I saw his show at MOCA and was impressed with so many different aspects from technique to business.

The new work was executed with precision and beautiful design. I know a lot of people may talk shit about Murakami and the fact that he doesn’t always have a hand directly in making the work but I feel, when standing in front of the work and squinting 3 inches from the surface, there is a haze mystery that runs through me that I never really feel about art anymore.

Last but not least we ended up at my friend Yoskay Yamamoto’s solo show at Project Gallery.

Yosk was nervous even though he almost completely sold out before the doors opened. He has definetly come a long way in the past few years. Congrats Yosk.
